A man was killed after a bee attack in Congress on Tuesday, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say after 1 p.m. they were dispatched to an area between the Hillside and Congress communities for a report of a man who sustained numerous bee sting injuries.
As deputies arrived, the man had been pronounced dead by medical personnel.
The property owner had reportedly told deputies that the victim was doing road clearing work for her with a backhoe when the attack happened.
Deputies say the back hoe work may have disturbed a hive, causing the bees to swarm and attack the victim.
The official cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Yavapai County Medical Examiner.
