A woman is breaking her silence in hopes of finding the couple involved in a boat crash with her son that left him hospitalized.

Alec Medina, 15, remains at Maricopa Medical Center, recovering from injuries to his face and head. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says the teen's jet ski, and another boat, collided on Bartlett Lake back on Aug 5.

According to authorities, the other boat left the scene after the crash and the boaters have yet to come forward.

"It's every parent's nightmare to sit here and watch him and be helpless to him at times," said Sonya Medina, Alec's mom.

Medina told ABC15 her son has undergone multiple surgeries, some of which have been reconstructive.

Alec suffered injuries to his nose, eyes, brain and skull. Medina says her son has lost his ability to smell and was in a medically-induced coma for 19 days.

"I can't believe somebody would just leave a child laying there," Medina said of the crash.

Earlier in August, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office released a description of the other boat involved and two people onboard.

The descriptions are as follows:

Boat: Fishing-style design, possibly an aluminum hull with a light gray lower half, dark charcoal or purple stripe above it, black lettering on the side, black outboard motor.

Boaters: A Caucasian man in his 30s, 5’7”, 190 pounds with a buzzed haircut and trimmed goatee. He also has brownish-blonde hair and is of a stocky build. The woman is also Caucasian, mid- to late 20s, medium build, long dark hair with no visible tattoos.

Medina said if the boaters come forward, it will help bring her closure.

"If they're remorseful, I'm willing to forgive," she said. "Please just come forward. I can't forgive you if you're not willing to come forward.

A GoFundMe page has been setup to help Alec's family with medical expenses.
