When the gunfire rang out, Brett Schwanbeck and his fiancée were near the front of the Route 91 stage.
Karla Kratzenberg, a family member, telling ABC15 Schwanbeck’s fiancée, who is also a nurse, began seeing people fall to the ground. She rushed over to help the victims.
His fiancée even helped a woman and her children seek shelter in a dumpster.
Schwanbeck was shot in the back of the head and leg and his fiancée, Anna, was able to get him help and rushed to the hospital.
He was taken off life support on Tuesday surrounded by friends and family.
Kratzenberg says Schwanbeck was enjoying the retired life with his fiancée Anna by his side they would go out and enjoy many events. She says he was a loving, caring, countryman who would give the shirt off his back.
He was set to get married in January. He leaves behind three children and five grandchildren whom he loved very much.
