The Arizona Cardinals selected defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche out of Mississippi with the 29th overall pick in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft on Thursday.

Nkemdiche, a 6-foot-3, 294 pounder, was the nation's highest-rated prospect coming out of high school and, according to NFL.com, "has the talent to be an impact starter in the league."

Nkemdiche has had some off-field issues. He was suspended from last season's Sugar Bowl after being charged with marijuana possession in December. But USA TODAY's Nate Davis believed Nkemdiche would "be a steal" if he was available when the Cardinals' pick arrived.

Nkemdiche has an "exceptional build," according to NFL.com, and is a "wrap-up finisher who won't allow running backs out of his grasp."
