According to at least one report Friday, the Phoenix Suns are interested in acquiring star point guard Kyrie Irving, who has reportedly requested a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Another report said the Suns could be part of a three-team trade involving Irving -- but in this scenario, Irving would head to New York instead of Phoenix.
Jordan Schultz of Yahoo Sports reported Friday that the Cavaliers and New York Knicks are in "serious talks" about a trade that would include Irving and Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony, with a possible third team as part of the deal. Schultz later reported the Suns could be that third team.
According to Schultz, the Suns may deal guard Eric Bledsoe, center Tyson Chandler and possibly forward T.J. Warren as part of a three-team swap. Schultz said the Suns would look to acquire at least one future draft pick, along with point guard Frank Ntilikina, whom the Knicks selected with the eighth overall pick in the 2017 draft. He said the Suns may also look to add the expiring contract of Cavaliers center and former Sun Channing Frye.
Schultz reported the Suns and Cavaliers discussed a similar deal before last month's draft.
According to ESPN, the Knicks, San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves are preferred landing spots for Irving.
