SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Groups of demonstrators and the inflatable “Baby Trump” greeted President Trump during his visit to San Diego Wednesday.
Protesters with the Backbone campaign gathered at Horton Plaza Park (900 Fourth Ave.) before 9 a.m., ahead of the president’s expected appearance at a campaign fundraiser at the US Grant hotel, located a short distance away from the park.
During the rally, which was scheduled to last until Trump departed the hotel, the giant Baby Trump balloon was inflated above the event.

The balloon has been present for numerous protests across the world, and it made an appearance earlier this summer during Vice President Mike Pence’s trip to San Diego .
In light of the president’s visit to downtown San Diego and the expected presence of protesters, San Diego police advised the public of potential traffic issues and road closures.
Around 3 p.m., the department said roads downtown were reopened following the President's visit.
