CAIRO, NY — Police in New York are urging drivers to overcome their fear of spiders in the name of safety.
According to a Facebook post by the Cairo police department, officers were called to a crash scene in Cairo, New York, Wednesday where they found a vehicle with serious front-end damage and a woman with a leg injury.
The woman was reportedly driving the car when she noticed a spider in the driver’s area. Police say she panicked and crashed the vehicle.
“We know that it is easier for some drivers than others but PLEASE, try to teach new drivers and yourselves to overcome the fear and pull over to a safe place,” the Town of Cairo New York Police Department posted on Facebook. “Lives depend on it.”
