In just three days, a GoFundMe campaign has raised over $3 million.
The cause for so many donations? Building a wall along the US/Mexico border for President Donald Trump.
Launched on December 17, a GoFundMe page titled “We The People Will Fund The Wall” was created by Brian Kolfage, a Purple Heart Recipient and triple amputee veteran.
According to information on the GoFundMe page, Kolfage feels “deeply invested to this nation to ensure future generations have everything we have today.”
“Like a majority of those American citizens who voted to elect President Donald J Trump, we voted for him to Make America Great Again,” he wrote. “President Trump’s main campaign promise was to BUILD THE WALL. And as he’s followed through on just about every promise so far, this wall project needs to be completed still.”
The campaign’s goal is set to $1 billion, the maximum GoFundMe will allow for donations.
But Kolfage isn’t letting GoFundMe’s limit stop his goal of reaching the $5 billion needed to build a wall along the US/Mexico Border.
“The campaign is set to the MAX that Gofundme has at the moment... working to get it raised,” he wrote.
Kolfage urged the President’s supporters to pledge $80 each, writing, “If the 63 million people who voted for Trump each pledge $80, we can build the wall. That equates to roughly 5Billion Dollars, even if we get half, that's half the wall. We can do this.”
Kolfage is a retired US Air Force member who lost three limbs when he was wounded in Iraq. According to the biography on his personal website, he is a graduate of the University of Arizona’s School of Architecture.
According to information on the “We The People Will Fund The Wall” page, Kolfage is working with the Trump administration to ensure all funds raised will go toward “the Trump wall.”
“We have many very high level contacts already helping,” he wrote. "[One hundred percent] your donations will go to the Trump Wall."
As of December 20, the campaign has raised $3,168,226.
