Patricio Espinoza is a five-time Emmy award-winning journalist.
Born in Ecuador, Patricio brings a love and passion for telling people’s stories. His 30+ years in journalism began as an intern and a handyman at local TV stations.
Patricio’s work in both English and Spanish has allowed him the opportunity to collaborate with journalists and news organizations at local and national levels; Among them, he worked with ABC News as a freelance network news field producer. He has also worked with sports and news magazines like Entertainment Tonight and Al Rojo Vivo in Spanish.
In his spare time, Patricio shares his work and life experiences with journalism students at schools, including ASU's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication and the University of Alaska Anchorage. He enjoys traveling and driving with his retired K-9 Frida, who now works as Patricio's Medical Alert Service animal.
Patricio loves to dance and cook for family and friends.
Patricio is a two-time prestigious Knight Digital Fellow with UC Berkeley, USC’s Annenberg School of Journalism and Marshall School of Business.
He has also received a Lifetime McCormick Fellowship at Northwestern University, Medill School, and Kellogg School of Management, as well as participating in a Poynter “Journalism That Matters” fellowship.
Patricio holds a Master degree from ASU's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
