Some Charming Charlie shoppers have already felt the sadness of losing their favorite store at nearby malls. Soon, all fans of the accessories and clothing retailer will feel that loss.

Charming Charlie stores across the U.S. will all be gone by the end of August. More than 260 stores in 38 states are closing.

We’re pretty broken-hearted about it ourselves … Charming Charlie was a staple for people looking for inexpensive jewelry and handbags in a store that has been organized by colors since 2004. (It was so easy to find something to go with a teal dress or bright yellow blouse!)

Here’s an Instagram post showing the store’s bright, colorful interiors:

The retailer announced on July 15 that remaining open stores have 20% to 50% off items right now. Sales on its website have already stopped.

A post on the Instagram feed about the sale reads, “We have officially started our Closing Sale. 😢 We sure will miss y’all.”

The liquidation sales include clearance products that are an extra 20% off.

If you have a Charming Charlie gift card, it may be used in stores until Aug. 21. You can still use it to buy some of the chain’s cute and fun accessories until then.

Charming Charlie is one of many stores closing this year — a record 12,000 brick-and-mortar stores are expected to be closed by the end of December. An all-time high was set in 2017 when more than 8,000 stores closed nationwide.

Bed Bath & Beyond announced it is closing 40 locations this year, and possibly more.

We’ll also say goodbye to Dressbarn — it is going out of business for good. That’s 650 Dressbarns!

Here’s an Instagram post from the retailer, known for its size variety and inexpensive pricing on professional wear:

Party City also says it will shutter about 45 of its 870 stores in 2019.

Home goods store Pier 1 Imports will do the same with 57 locations, and possibly more.

We’ve already been missing Payless ShoeSource, which closed all of its stores and its website earlier in 2019. And over the next two years, we’ll have to part with 230 Gap Inc. brand stores. Ugh!

If there is any bright spot in all this bad shopping news, it’s that some of these stores will keep selling their merchandise online. Still, we’ll miss being able to run over to the nearest shopping center to grab a pair of Charming Charlie earrings for a night on the town!
