PHOENIX — When it comes to the "best" hotels in Arizona, northern Arizona takes the cake, or better yet, the trip.
TripAdvisor announced the hotel winners of its Travelers' Choice Awards on Wednesday. The winners were divided among nine categories, including "small hotels," "romance," "luxury" and "all-inclusive."
While no Arizona hotel took the top spot in any category, five hotels in Sedona and one hotel in Cottonwood were listed within the top 20 in the "romance," "small hotels" and "B&B/Inn Hotel" categories.
Here is how Arizona stacked against the rest:
Best romance hotel:
- 4th: The Inn Above Oak Creek, Sedona
- 13th: The Tavern Hotel, Cottonwood
- Casa Sedona Inn, Sedona
Top Small Hotel
- 11th: Adobe Grand Villas, Sedona
Best bed-and-breakfast and inns
- 13th: Cozy Cactus Bed and Breakfast, Sedona
- 15th: The Suites at Sedona B&B, Sedona
The top three hotels overall went to the French Quarter Inn in Charleston, South Carolina; The Nantucket Hotel & Resort in Nantucket, Massachusetts; and The Spectator Hotel in Charleston, South Carolina.
