Would you eat a bug? Could you eat a bug?
It sounds like the start of a Dr. Seuss children's book, but it is a culinary adventure you can try at Butterfly Wonderland, the large butterfly atrium at Odysea in the Desert, the entertainment complex near Loop 101 and Via de Ventura.
It potentially could be the realm for a friendly dare!
The attraction recently added a vending machine stocked with real, edible and flavored insect snacks, candy and protein bars.
Do you like your crickets dusted with barbecue, salt and vinegar, or sour cream and onion? How about covered in chocolate? They have them.
Worms flavored in Mexican spice or cheddar cheese? Yup.
They even have protein bars and chips (branded "Chirps") that use cricket flour.
Sweet tooth? They have those scorpion suckers that can be found at any Arizona travel center or touristy shop.
We're told that pricing varies between $3 - $6. The funds will benefit the Butterfly Wonderland Foundation.
To get to it, you'll have to purchase tickets to Butterfly Wonderland which varies between $16 - $24.
Butterfly Wonderland has a large conservatory with more than 3,000 butterflies. They also have a reptile exhibit, a bee exhibit and a small aquarium.
