DK Dogs closes Phoenix storefront 'effective immediately' over safety concerns

DK Dogs has closed its Phoenix storefront "effective immediately" citing safety concerns.

In posts on social media on Tuesday, owners Glen and Liza Asbury wrote: "Due to an unfortunate incident in which we no longer feel safe nor comfortable operating our business at The Strip, we're sorry to announce the closing of our storefront, effective immediately."

The Danish-style hot dog concept opened in April 2017 in a shopping center near 12th Street and Highland Avenue.

It is not clear what led to the abrupt closure, however. An email, phone call and Facebook message to the owners were not returned.

"We want to thank all our loyal customers over the past year and a half. For now, we'll be focusing on our roots, the hot dog carts," the Facebook post said.

They also plan on attending events and school festivals, while also offering catering, according to the post.
