Flix Brewhouse, a Texas-based movie theatre, restaurant and microbrewery concept, has unveiled plans to open its first Arizona location in Chandler.
The dine-in theatre brews a dozen of its own beers in-house and the bar is open to the general public regardless if you have a movie ticket.
It is the first tenant announced for Overstreet, a $25 million, 77,000-square-foot shopping and dining complex coming to Arizona Avenue and Chandler Blvd., a short walk from the city's main downtown stretch.
No other tenants were revealed.
LGE Design Build is behind the project, which is slated to have Phase 1 completed by December, according to the announcement. Chandler's City Council approved the agreement with LGE last week.
The area where the project is taking place was originally going to be developed by Vintage Partners with a project called The Row. However, according to the Phoenix Business Journal, soil issues among other factors derailed those plans.
Chandler Mayor Jay Tibshraeny said he was looking forward to getting the new project started.
"This busy intersection is critical to enhancing our exciting vibrant downtown. We've had plenty of new additions to the downtown this past year, and now we're thrilled to get another first for our state, Flix Brewhouse," he said in a prepared statement.
Downtown Chandler has seen a few new restaurants open within the last year. Those include La Bocca Pizzeria, Modern Margarita and The Brickyard. The year before that, Crust Pizzeria and The Ostrich opened.
