PHOENIX — Gordon Biersch closed its restaurant and brewery at SanTan Village in Gilbert over the weekend, which was the brand's only remaining location still running in the Phoenix area.

Its other restaurant locations at Westgate Entertainment District in Glendale, downtown Tempe, and Scottsdale have also closed. The Westgate location closed last week, according to an email sent to its loyalty members.

"It is never an easy decision to close a location. This was purely a business decision as we continue to focus on other locations throughout the country," said Josh Kern, chief experience officer at CraftWorks Holdings, in a statement to ABC15 regarding the closure of the Gilbert location.

CraftWorks owns and operates franchises of restaurants and breweries, including Gordon Biersch, Old Chicago, Rock Bottom, and Logan's Roadhouse.

"We appreciate our raving fans of the brand and we certainly enjoyed operating this restaurant in Phoenix. We continue to be optimistic about the future of Gordon Biersch and are pleased with recent progress made on several growth initiatives that we believe should have a meaningful impact on our business," the statement continued.

It is largely the same statement CraftWorks released last year when it closed its restaurant in downtown Tempe, which had been part of Mill Avenue for 20 years.
