PHOENIX — Some of the streets in downtown Phoenix will be transformed into a mini water park for two days in July offering kids and families a free way to beat the Arizona heat -- at least for a few hours, anyway.
From 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. on July 13 & 14, 2019, eight inflatable water slides will be positioned along Central Avenue for the third H20asis event, a partnership between the Lincoln Family Downtown YMCA and CityScape Phoenix, the restaurant-retail development, to "[keep] things cool while raising awareness for water safety," according to a news release.
There will also be a foam machine that kids can play in and other family-friendly activities.
While the event is free and open to the public, organizers are asking for a $5 cash donation, which will benefit the YMCA, the release said.
CityScape is near Washington Street and Central Avenue. Parking is not free, however. There is an underground parking garage at CityScape that charges $4 an hour, or a maximum of $28 per day. There are other garages and parking meters nearby.
For those that get hungry, there are sit-down and fast-casual restaurants at the complex, including Chico Malo, MAD Greens, Chipotle, Five Guys, Breakfast Club, Squid Ink, Copper Blues.
