Harkins Theatres has a new loyalty rewards program.
"My Harkins Awards" lets moviegoers earn cash-credit on movie tickets and concession purchases that can be used toward future movies and snacks.
Here is what we know about it, so far:
My Harkins Awards: You can sign-up for the free rewards program at www.Harkins.com or through the Harkins Theatre app. It will give you a membership number. That number, or a phone number, will be used to track purchases.
Every dollar spent equals a point earned. You earn a $5 credit when 200 points are earned, according to the Harkins website. Points can be earned on movie tickets, concessions, popcorn and at the Harkins online store.
No more loyalty t-shirts: The theater chain is no longer selling its loyalty t-shirts that earned a free medium popcorn. That program has been replaced with "Popcorn Perks."
Introducing "Popcorn Perks": "Popcorn Perks" is essentially a digital version of the popcorn loyalty shirt. For $30 a year, moviegoers get a free medium popcorn with a movie ticket purchase. (The t-shirt was $25 last year).
The voucher has a limit of 36 medium popcorns over a 12-month period. Multiple "Popcorn Perks" memberships can be added to a rewards account.
Soda loyalty cup: The 2018 cup celebrates the Arizona-based theater's 85th anniversary. The cup features the theater's logo and a large "85" surrounded by gold stars. Each cup is $6. Just like previous years, when brought to the theater, refills are $1.50 each.
The fine-print: According to the Terms and Conditions (yes, I read through them), points can be earned on movie ticket purchases at the Harkins box office, Harkins kiosks, MovieTickets.com, Fandango.com; concessions, Big Party Popcorn and at the Harkins online store.
Gift card purchases do not earn points when under $100. Each gift card of $100 earns 25 points.
Rewards expire after 180 days if not used.
