How to see 10 kids movies for $5 at Pollack Tempe Cinemas

TEMPE, AZ — With school almost out for the summer, you may be looking for ways to keep the kids entertained without spending a lot of money.

How about going to the movies? Sounds expensive, and between the tickets, popcorn, and candy, a morning or afternoon outing can quickly add up. How do ten movies for $5 sound?

Pollack Tempe Cinemas, the discount second-run theater in Tempe, recently announced the return of its "Summer Movie Club," where it will screen one kid-friendly movie (rated G or PG) each week for ten weeks. The lineup includes "Hotel Transylvania 3," "Monsters vs. Aliens," "Small Foot," "Boss Baby," and "Megamind," plus five others.

The first week starts the week of Memorial Day, May 27, and runs through August 2.

A summer pass is $5 for those four and older. That breaks down to $0.50 per movie. If you do not want to buy a pass, individual tickets to these movies and the rest of the theater's showings are $3.50. On Tuesdays, admission is $2.50.

The club movies will be shown Monday - Friday at 10 a.m., according to the website. Passes can be bought at the theater box office, 1825 E Elliot Rd., Tempe, AZ 85284.

  • July 22-26, "Megamind"
  • July 28 - August 2, "Peter Rabbit"

Harkins Theatre also has a summer movie program where they show ten kid-friendly movies for ten weeks.

It starts the week of Memorial Day. A season pass is $7 and individual movies are $2. Movies will be screened at 9:45 a.m. each day.

Harkins' lineup includes "Happy Feet," "How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World," "Despicable Me 2," "Hotel Transylvania 3," "Smallfoot," "The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part," "Sherlock Gnomes," "Trolls," "Penguins of Madagascar," and "Shrek."
