If you're looking for an educational way to beat the summer heat, you may want to head over to the Phoenix Art Museum.
Children and teenagers, 17 and younger, will be able to visit the museum's galleries and exhibitions for free all summer long, from July 1 - September 30.
The museum said Wednesday it received a "generous gift" from The Steele Foundation, an Arizona charitable organization that grants money to organizations that offer educational and cultural activities for children, that made the promotion possible.
Children will be able to visit during normal business hours, as well as check out special engagement exhibitions that typically require an additional cost.
The museum is normally open Tuesday - Sunday, and closed on Monday. Regular admission is $9-$14 for children and $18-$23 for adults. It is located at 1625 N. Central Avenue Phoenix, AZ 85004.
During First Fridays, the monthly art walk in downtown Phoenix, the museum offers free admission from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. Special exhibits may have a $5 cost. Donations are also accepted.
On July 6, the museum will open its latest exhibition, In the Company of Women, which will showcase artworks from women from the 20th and 21st centuries, including Frida Kahlo, Georgia O’Keeffe and Faith Ringgold. (Frida Kahlo's birthday is July 6.)
