Fox Restaurant Concepts announced Wednesday that it will close Little Cleo's Seafood Legend in order to expand Culinary Dropout at The Yard.

"We've loved watching The Yard on 7th Street grow into a space for groups and families to come together," the restaurant group said in an open letter published on its website. "Today, we need more space than ever to serve those neighbors."

Little Cleo's will close the day after Mother's Day -- Monday, May 14. It is located on 7th Street near Montebello Avenue.

"This was not an easy decision to come to but ultimately, Sam Fox and his team felt it was best," a spokesperson said.

Later this year, the Little Cleo's space will be renovated into an additional bar area, and the former Barrio Urbano space, which closed in June of last year, will be turned into a private dining room, the spokesperson said.

Even with the changes, founder Sam Fox, a multi-year James Beard Award semifinalist, is "actively looking" for another place to open the Little Cleo's concept.

"It's a favorite within the Fox family," the spokesperson said.

Some of Little Cleo's menu will also make their way onto menus of Sam Fox's other restaurants.

While specifics were not released, other Fox Restaurant Concept's include The Henry, North Italia, The Arrogant Butcher, Flower Child and Doughbird.
