Looking for something to do? How about taking a tour through a museum?

The id.e.a. Museum, Arizona Museum of Natural History, and Mesa Contemporary Art Museum in downtown Mesa will stay open late on Friday, Dec. 14 and offer free admission from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.

It is part of an initiative to ensure the museums are accessible to everyone, no matter their financial backgrounds.

Entry to the museums will be on a first-come, first-served basis. If a museum gets too crowded, tickets with a specific entry time may be passed out, according to a news release. There will be no advanced tickets.

Normally, admission to the id.e.a. Museum is $9 per person and $7-$12 at the Arizona Museum of Natural History. Those with an E.B.T. card can receive $2 admission per person at both museums during normal hours.

The Mesa Contemporary Art Museum is located within the Mesa Arts Center and is free year-round.

If you do get stuck waiting on Friday night, all three museums are within walking distance of "Merry Main Street," Mesa's holiday boulevard with a Christmas tree, ice skating rink, market and free photos with Santa on Friday and Saturday nights.
