PHOENIX — The newest and youngest giraffe at the Phoenix Zoo quietly made her public debut over the weekend.
"Moshi has been introduced on the Savanna and seems to be enjoying her gorgeous habitat!" the zoo write in a Facebook post on Saturday, which also included five new photos of the six-foot-tall giraffe.
The zoo said Moshi, which means "smoke" in Swahili, will likely be out on the Savannah from 9 a.m. - noon for the next few weeks while she continues to get comfortable and acclimated with her surroundings.
She was born at the zoo on March 22 and is the third giraffe born at the zoo in less than two years. Siku was born in September 2017 and Rafiki was born in June 2018. (Siku was the first giraffe born at the zoo in 12 years.)
The zoo said female giraffes can grow to be 14 feet tall and weigh more than 1,500 pounds, most of which happens in the first three years of life.
