Owner Scott Holmes is ready to bring more barbecue to the Valley.
On Tuesday, Holmes confirmed his plans to open a second location of Little Miss BBQ near 7th Street and Dunlap Avenue, as first reported by the Arizona Republic.
The Arizona Texas-style barbecue joint will be located within an old bank building. Holmes said he spotted the space while out driving one day and thought "that's a cool building," in an interview with ABC15.
Holmes and his wife thought about opening another barbecue restaurant for a couple years -- possibly under a different name as to not take away from the following that Little Miss has garnered -- but ultimately decided to open a second location, he said.
The new location hopes to solve some of the inconveniences (and I say that lightly) guests may experience at the original off University between 42nd and 44th streets, such as parking and long wait times.
Speaking of the first location, "the original is going to stay exactly the same," said Holmes. There will be no changes to the menu, sides or experience.
The new location will have a similar menu as the the original, said Holmes. It will still have the brined brisket, beef short ribs, house-made sausage, turkey, and chicken. He said he's possibly looking at adding salmon to the menu.
The restaurant will have lunch and dinner service, and seating for roughly 150 people, Holmes estimated. The patio will have misters during the hotter months and heaters for the cooler months.
"Much nicer," he said.
Right now, the plan is to open in early 2018.
