PHOENIX — Phoenix Fan Fusion has officially been canceled for 2020.

The pop culture convention is typically held in May at the Phoenix Convention Center, but was rescheduled for September 25-27 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the event has been canceled and is scheduled to return in May 2021.

"Considering the current degree of uncertainty about when mass gatherings can resume, watching the rising cases of COVID-19 in Arizona, and after consulting with the Phoenix Convention Center and City of Phoenix officials, we will not be holding our September 25-27, 2020 convention," organizers said in an email to attendees. "While we are as disappointed as we know you are, we feel this is the best option, as the safety and well-being of our attendees and participants is of utmost concern to us."

The note was also posted on the event's website and social media pages.

Passes, memberships and vendor booths will automatically be transferred to the 2021 convention, which is currently scheduled for May 28-31, 2021. Those unable to attend next year's date can transfer their pass to a friend or family member with no charge, transfer them to the following year's convention (May 27-29, 2022), or donate them to an organization, according to the note.
