PHOENIX — The Valley is getting another Shake Shack.
The New York-based burger chain, who has a loyal following, has confirmed its plans to build a restaurant in the East Valley. It will be the chain's fifth restaurant in the Phoenix-metro.
The 3,100-square-foot restaurant will be built near Williams Field and Val Vista roads in Gilbert, according to Meg Castranova, Shake Shack's manager of brand communications, in an email. It will have indoor dining and an outdoor patio, she said.
It is expected to open in "early 2020," she said.
The Arizona Republic, who was first to report the news, said, citing plans filed with the Town of Gilbert, the restaurant would seat about 100 people, 40 of which would be on the patio.
Shake Shack said the Gilbert restaurant would be built with "recycled and sustainable materials," including turning old bowling lanes into table tops and making the booths of wood certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
The chain's other Valley locations are at Scottsdale Fashion Square, Uptown Plaza, Kierland Commons and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport's Terminal 3.
Shake Shack's menu features its single or double ShackBurgers, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, crinkle-cut fries, and custard and shakes for dessert.
