GLENDALE, AZ — Six Flags announced Tuesday that its Phoenix water park would remain closed for the 2020 season due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

All season passes and pre-purchased tickets would be extended for the 2021 season, the water park said in a note on its website and social media accounts.

"We look forward to welcoming you and your family back to the water park next year. We appreciate your understanding during these very challenging times. Please stay safe," its website said.

Hurricane Harbor temporarily paused its operations in March at the beginning of the pandemic and reopened for a few weeks in June, but had to close again after Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey signed a new executive order closing some bars, water parks, gyms, movie theaters and tube operators for a second time. That order remains in effect.

Big Surf in Tempe announced in late June that it, too, would remain closed for the season.
