MESA, AZ — He’s known for his incredible pumpkin-carving skills and has captured the attention of Halloween enthusiasts around the world. Starting this Saturday, teacher-turned-sculptor Ray Villafane is bringing the magic of Halloween to the Valley of the Sun.

“I love playing with pumpkins and Halloween,” Villafane said. “Delivering this sort of magic and whimsy cheer is just something I do and what better year is needed than now.”

ABC15 caught up with Villafane as he was putting the finishing touches on Strange Encounters, a Halloween scavenger hunt in downtown Mesa.

To participate, just pull up the map on the Mesa Art Center’s website.

You’ll come across 15 different art exhibits, each one with a different story to tell.

“There’s a little poem to go with the various stories that people interact with,” Villafane said.

As you look at the displays, see if you can spot the little mice dressed up as trick-or-treaters. Find all 10, and you can enter into a chance to win some prizes on behalf of the Mesa Arts Center.

The exhibit is open until November 8.
