GLENDALE, AZ — After remaining closed for more than a two months because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Talking Stick Resort, Casino Arizona, and Desert Diamond West Valley Casino have confirmed their plans to reopen next week.
Talking Stick Resort and Casino Arizona will reopen on Monday, June 1, a spokesperson previously confirmed to ABC15. Desert Diamond West Valley Casino will reopen at 1 p.m. Friday, June 5, according to a news release sent out on Monday.
Lone Butte, Vee Quiva, Wild Horse Pass, Fort McDowell, and Harrah's Ak-Chin all reopened on May 15, the same day that Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey's stay-at-home order expired, with social distancing measuring in place, including dividers between slot machines, plastic barriers at Blackjack tables, and spacing out tables at some restaurants.
Similar measures are being implemented at the Tohono O'odham Nation's Desert Diamond casinos, including deep cleaning, installing Plexiglass shields, conducting temperature checks for employees and guests, limiting capacity, and rearranging facilities to accommodate physical distancing recommendations, according to a news release.
The casino also said that "some amenities will remain closed and facility hours will be reduced to allow for daily deep cleanings," however, specifically which areas would remain closed were not listed in the news release.
More details on the phased reopening would be announced in the next few days, the release said.
The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community's Talking Stick Resort and Casino Arizona have not yet revealed what safety measures they will have in place when they reopen. ABC15 has reached out for more information.
