GILBERT, AZ — A new food festival is coming to Gilbert in the fall.

HDE Agency, a Chandler-based marketing company that also produces a number of food and music festivals in the East Valley, revealed this week that its newest event, the first-ever Town of Gilbert Oktoberfest, would take place on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, at Gilbert's Civic Center Plaza, located near Elliot and Gilbert roads.

More than a dozen restaurants, breweries, bars, and food trucks will have food and beer for sale, a news release said, including The Brass Tap, Dough Licious Desserts, Drive Wood food truck, 12 West Brewing, Arizona Wilderness Brewing, Desert Monk Brewing, Flying Basset Brewing, O.H.S.O. Brewing, Uncle Bear's Brewery, and Four Silos Brewery.

People will be able to listen to polka music, participate in food-eating contests, a stein-holding competition, cornhole tournament, and wiener dog races. Local bands Kevin Levine's Funkhaus Brass Band, The Black Moods, and 2 Tone Lizard Kings are scheduled to perform.

Gates open at 2 p.m. and close at 10 p.m.

Admission to the festival is $10 in advance and $20 day-of. Food and drink are separate costs. There is no admission charge for kids 12 and younger. You can buy tickets, here.
