TEMPE, AZ — After months of construction, Whole Foods announced Thursday that its grocery store near downtown Tempe would open on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
It also means that the Whole Foods near Baseline and Rural roads would eventually close.
In its announcement, Whole Foods said the downtown Tempe location, located near Ash and University below The Local apartments, would act as a "relocation" for the one on Rural. It was not immediately clear when exactly that location would close.
The 40,000-square-foot store will have a lot of grocery staples -- fresh produce, a bakery, a butcher, seafood department, and specialty cheeses -- as well as Nekter Juice Bar, an in-store bar, and "On Ash," a restaurant that will serve pub-style fare, vegan, and vegetarian options, according to a news release.
It will also have prepared hot and cold foods, beauty products, and more 300 beers and 1,000 wines for sale, the release said.
The first 300 people at the store on Nov. 6 will receive a reusable bag with a savings card between $5 and $100.
