Put on your comfy shoes and explore one of Arizona’s wondrous caves! We're heading to Colossal Cave, just south of Tucson.

This massive dry cave was discovered between 900 and 1450 A.D. by the Hohokam tribe.

Water coming from below formed this unique cave and it’s acidic effects have made beautiful sculptures in the rocks.

There are walking tours that are easy for kids and families, but if you’re feeling adventurous you can sign up for their Wild Cave tour and explore unlit passageways that go deep into the Earth. You’re guaranteed to get a bit dirty!

During your tour you’ll learn all about the caves delicate ecosystem, including the family of bats that nest there in the summer.

Above ground there’s a whole park to visit where you can hike, grab a bite to eat, or take the kids to the petting zoo.
