EL MIRAGE, AZ — What doesn't Daniel Gonzales do?!

He's a husband, father of three, Phoenix firefighter, and deacon at the Christian Restoration Center church in El Mirage.

In addition to all of that, he and his wife have spearheaded the "Roots of Love" service ministry at his church.

For the past three years, this group has provided a variety of services for their community - everything from school supplies, free haircuts, and food boxes for those in need.

"We believe it's so important at a very young age to teach our kids to be givers," explains Daniel.

His wife adds, it's part of their love for for community.

"It doesn't matter who you are or what you look like or where you come from. We are all the same. We can bless those around us," explains Desiree Gonzales.

Our Nick Ciletti asked Daniel, "What kind of reactions do you get from people when you give them food boxes or school bags?"

Daniel responded by saying, "They're always grateful. The people are always grateful. They love that people are out there, rooting for them and trying to help them in their time of need."

And Daniel Gonzales, that's why you're one of Nick's Heroes.

All around us in the Valley, people go above and beyond to help make our community even better. We want to know who they are! Nominate someone today and tell us why they should be one ofNick's Heroes. They could win a $500 gift card from our friends at Valley Toyota Dealers.
