Valley woman serves up smiles one card at a time

"I'm not an artist," explains Mary Bremer. "I don't paint, but in my heart, I always wanted to."

But that's never stopped Bremer from creating these unforgettable greeting cards -- she puts her heart and soul into them.

"If I can make somebody smile, that's the whole point."

And she serves up the smiles, many times over!

Bremer's handmade cards go out to patients and families in hospice. She even sends out kits so they can create their own greeting cards as well.

Other cards go to veterans and troops serving overseas.

"They need to know someone is still thinking of them and that someone remembers them," she said.

"Mary is amazing," explains Christine Widemark. "She is always thinking of others...they are all mini works of art. They are all very special."

And we know Mary Bremer is very special, and that is why she is one of Nick's Heroes.

The materials Mary uses are purchased at Scraps of Love, located at 9516 W. Peoria Ave., Suite 14 in Peoria. For more information, head to ScrapsOfLove.com.
