PHOENIX – Blow the dust off of your library card, its time to check out some books!
The Phoenix City Council voted to approve the “All Fines Forgiven”campaign which will waive all existing overdue fines and discontinue late fees on items checked out from the Phoenix Public Library beginning November 2019.
The library aims to make important materials available to those who need it most.
Prior to the campaign, fees for overdue materials were a few cents a day. Adult materials are $0.20 and children materials are $0.10 that must be paid for each late day until it is returned. If the customer has $25 or more in unpaid fees, their library card would be suspended.
With the new fines campaign, these fees will be discontinued and the only payment still in place is the lost item replacement fee. However, the customer has 50 days to return the book past the due date before the replacement fee is required.
The “All Fines Forgiven” campaign is a great way for families to enjoy movies and books without breaking the bank. Sign up for a library card today and start hitting the shelves.
