SCOTTSDALE – We all put our lederhosen on one leg at a time, but not all cities celebrate Oktoberfest equally.
The festival is usually celebrated from mid-September ending on the first Sunday in October.
WalletHub ranked the 100 largest U.S. cities using 24 variables to find the best cities for celebrating Oktoberfest. Those measurables include breweries per capita, presence of Oktoberfest Festivals, bar accessibility, pretzel shops per capita, safety and beer price.
New York, N.Y. topped the list with the largest presence of Oktoberfest, but ranked in the bottom 10 for price. Oktoberfest NYC runs consecutive weekends starting September 13 through October 6.
The top five round out with Denver, Colo. (2), Portland, Ore. (3) Philadelphia, Pa. (4), and Cincinnati, Ohio (5).
Scottsdale, Ariz. made the top 20 at number 18. Old Town Scottsdale is the place to be for Oktoberfest with Brat Haus Oktoberfest 2019 on September 21, and Scottsdale Beer Fest Oktoberfest Edition the following Saturday, Sept. 28.
Other Arizona cities that made the list are Gilbert (23), Chandler (45), Phoenix (47), Tucson (51), Glendale (76) and Mesa (82).
