PHOENIX – Rain is a rare sight in Arizona and with the lack of Monsoon season this summer, it is even more exciting when the weather takes a turn from the heat.

The question is, what do we do now that it is raining outside? Here are a few ideas.

Outdoor activities:

Splash in rain puddles- Pull on your rain boots and find the biggest puddle around.

Race leaves or boats- The fastest one wins! Anyone else getting IT flashbacks?

Have a water fight- Well, you can’t get any more wet, right? Now’s the time to bust out the water guns and have a battle.

Make rain art- Use cardstock and a lot of colors and watch your picture transform when you put it out in the rain.

Slip and slide- Just lay out a tarp and away you go!

Bodyboard down grassy hills- Find a boogie board and a grassy hill. Just make sure it is wet enough to slide down.

Indoor activities:

Build a fort- It does not matter how old you are, fort building is cool.

Bring out the board games- Find an old board game or even make up your own! There are no rules here.

Binge your favorite show- There’s nothing better than wrapping yourself in a warm blanket on a rainy day and getting caught up on your favorite Netflix series.

Sit inside and drink tea- Chamomile? Green tea? Take your pick.

Make S’mores- Even if you don’t have a fireplace, you can still have marshmallow treats! Find a microwave or oven-safe recipe.
