With the change in season comes a transformation of clothes and to help out with a sense of we’ll preview of three emerging designers you’ll see at Phoenix Fashion Week in October.
Ahead of Phoenix Fashion Week this fall, the people behind it—have put a few developing designers through a design boot camp to teach the basics of fashion design.
Everyone you see here will be featured together in runway show celebrating emerging designers in the Southwest.
“Don’t count us out, there are a lot of talented designers. Just because we’re not in a big city doesn’t mean we [don’t] have the skill”, said Keith English owner, Karina English.
Local designer Nicole Willis only just recently started her brand, Astrid Underground. Her designs combine gothic, and steampunk styles.
“It has some highlight features inside we have a hidden bust with some nice pop of skulls and bats,” said Willis.
Willis told the Phoenix CW, she was the odd kid in high school wearing black, spikes and chains in high school.
“The time for blending in is over, stand out in the crowd. Be uniquely you”, said Willis.
Amber Anderson’s designs are inspired by another era.
“Part of Flower Power is we want to promote people to live and love a little bit more. It’s really inspired by the 70’s era”, said Flower Power Clothing Company owner, Amber Anderson.
This Phoenix-area designer, Karina English is a former cook, who’s taking her skills from the kitchen to the runway.
In November 2018. she started Keith English, inspired by her husband.
“I do contrasting colors on the thread and the buttons. We have convertible French double cuffs that you can fold under if you decide you can fold into a different color”, said English.
