NASA says former astronaut and long-duration spaceflight pioneer Owen Garriott has died.
Garriott reportedly passed away Monday at his home in Alabama at the age of 88.
The astronaut flew on the Skylab space station and on Space Shuttle Columbia, spending a total of 70 days in space.
NASA says Garriott served in the US Navy and was stationed on US destroyers at sea. He taught at Stanford and held an FAA commercial pilot license.
