A total of 36 businesses were given the green light Aug. 18 by the Arizona Department of Health Services to start reopening.
Even though nearly all the counties in the state don’t qualify to have bars, movie theaters, and gyms open, ADHS has created a way for businesses to submit plans to show they will be taking extra precautions against Covid-19.
After two gyms got the go-ahead on Aug. 14, 29 more were approved on Tuesday. Also receiving approval Tuesday were two movie theaters and five bars that serve food.
All these businesses were forced to close in late June by an executive order issued by Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey in hopes of slowing the spread of Covid-19.
