The Area Agency on Aging is lending financial resources to a local nonprofit that helps the homeless by buying its downtown Phoenix building.
The agency announced Monday it bought the building for Justa Center at 1001 W. Jefferson St.
The building houses the nonprofit resource center that serves elderly homeless men and women.
“We simply can’t afford to lose this critical resource,” said Area Agency on Aging President and CEO Mary Lynn Kasunic in a statement. “We felt we had to step in and, with the collaboration of the Department of Economic Security, we were able to ensure they didn’t lose their home.”
