GLENDALE, AZ — The Arizona Coyotes are reaching back two decades with the design for the team's new "reverse retro" alternate jersey for the 2020-21 season.
It’s the first time that all 31 of the National Hockey League’s teams are participating in an alternate jersey program together. Adidas worked with the league and each team to design updated jerseys that hearken back to significant eras in each club’s history.
The Coyotes’ reverse retro alternative jersey is purple and based on the green jersey worn by the club from 1999-2003.
That original jersey was first unveiled by Coyotes players Keith Tkachuk, Jeremy Roenick and Teppo Numminen. It featured a large Peyote Coyote head from the Kachina logo and included a nighttime desert scene featuring two saguaros and a rising moon. Geckos decorated each shoulder.
