Freeport-McMoRan Inc., the international mining giant based in Phoenix, announced Joshua Olmsted will take over as the new president and CEO of the company’s Americas division.
Olmsted will replace Harry Conger, who has worked at the company for 33 years, when he retires on Sept. 1.
Freeport-McMoRan hired Olmsted right out of college and for the past 28 years he has worked his way up from leadership positions at operations sites to his current role as senior vice president-Americas.
In a statement about the appointment, Richard Adkerson, president and CEO of the company, thanked Conger for his decades of service and welcomed Olmsted to continue his predecessor’s work.
