Commuters in Phoenix are spending an average of 62 hours a year stuck in traffic, costing the region a total of $3.01 billion, according to a new study.
That breaks down to an average congestion cost of $994 per commuter, according to the 2019 Urban Mobility Report published by the Texas A&M Transportation Institute.
The study uses data from 2017, the most recent year available.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the time lost and average cost per commuter are both up over previous years, an indication congestion has worsened around the Valley.
