A Maricopa County Superior Court judge has ruled that a measure to legalize recreational marijuana in Arizona can remain on the ballot.
The Arizona Capitol Times reported that Judge James Smith ruled on Aug. 7 against the group Arizonans for Responsible Drug Policy, which claimed petitions signed by voters were misleading.
The challenge said the 100-word summary on the initiative petition was misleading and omitted key provisions.
Smith, however, said it wasn’t possible for a short summary to include every provision in the initiative and that voters signing the petition could be expected to understand many of the implications of legalizing recreational marijuana use.
