Race cars from Maserati, Ferrari, Bugatti and Alfa Romeo, driven by some of the greatest drivers in racing history, are among the 22 vehicles on display at the Phoenix Art Museum's exclusive "Legends of Speed" exhibition.
With a run of more than four months that spills over into the busy car auction season, spring training and NASCAR races, the museum is expecting up to 300,000 visitors to see the exhibit, said Gilbert Vicario, the museum's deputy director for curatorial affairs and the Selig family chief curator.
The exhibit opens on Sunday.
"To have 22 race cars under one roof — this is why museums exist," said Vicario, who first developed the exhibit idea in 2017.
