Victoria Chavez, founder of Los Dos Molinos, the longtime New Mexican-style restaurant in the Valley known for its fiery hot dishes, has died.
“It’s with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Chef Victoria, Matriarch and founder of Los Dos Molinos,” the company posted on its Facebook page on Nov. 24.
“She was so many things to so many people. We will miss her very much. She is gone, but her legacy will live on forever.”
The word “molino” in Spanish means “mill” or “grinder” and became the restaurant’s namesake in honor of the two chile grinders that sat in the original restaurant Victoria and her husband Eddie first opened in Springerville more than three decades ago, according to the company’s website.
