MESA, AZ — The city of Mesa is accepting applications for grants earmarked for businesses based in the city to cover utility bills or rent or mortgage assistance.

Due to the city’s size, it received direct funding from the federal government as a result of the CARES Act, and now has $18 million available for the business grants, Mesa Mayor John Giles said.

“We all have seen many examples of businesses that are really struggling,” Giles said. “Thankfully some businesses have already received some assistance, but many have not.”

Giles said so far there have been about 300 applications submitted, requesting about $5 million in total, so there is still plenty of funding available for businesses that qualify.
