Update: CNBC reported Tuesday afternoon that unnamed sources with both General Motors Co. and Nikola are expected to extend talks on the $2 billion partnership between the two companies, in which GM would manufacture the Phoenix company's zero-emissions pickups and provide the battery and fuel-cell technology for its semi trucks.

Original story: Two women have accused Nikola Corp. founder Trevor Milton of sexual assault, according to multiple reports, adding complications for the Phoenix-based hybrid vehicle manufacturing company which has already been under close scrutiny in recent weeks and is clouding prospects for a deal with General Motors Co. that is supposed to close on Sept. 30.

According to a report by CNBC, the first allegation comes from Milton’s cousin Aubrey Ferrin Smith, who says the billionaire groped her in 1999 when she was 15.

Smith filed a formal complaint with police in Holladay, Utah, on Sept. 26, but she had also made accusations previously on social media.
