Phoenix-based Brooklyn Bedding is repurposing a specific mattress-producing technology to manufacture hospital beds in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
While Brooklyn Bedding doesn’t have a history of making hospital mattresses, it will use the same technology it developed for the trucking industry in the early 2000s.
Sixteen years ago, Brooklyn Bedding was approached by Phoenix-based Knight-Swift Transportation to develop a mattress to help truckers soak up diesel fuel spills in crisis situations.
At the time, truckers were using regular mattresses.
