Hours after Arizona voterspassed a measure legalizing the recreational use of cannabis, the Phoenix City Council voted to allow medical marijuana dispensaries to grow larger.
On Wednesday, the council approved an amendment allowing medical marijuana dispensaries to be a maximum of 5,000 square feet, an increase from the previously allowed 2,000 square feet.
This change, though, only applies to medical marijuana dispensaries, city officials said during Wednesday afternoon's council meeting.
The city will have to create its own zoning rules for recreational marijuana facilities.
